CivicFluent Terms of Use

CivicFluent Terms of Use

Effective date: October 10, 2026 Version: 2026-10-10-v3

These Terms are an agreement between the user and White Hat Mgmt LLC (“White Hat”) for use of CivicFluent. The in-app checkbox and continue button provide the affirmative acceptance record. If the user does not agree, the app must not unlock its study content.

Independent educational product

CivicFluent is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by USCIS, DHS, or any United States government agency. Official government sources remain authoritative.

The app provides general educational information, not legal, immigration, tax, election, or professional advice. It does not determine eligibility, interpret an N-400, represent a user, predict an interview result, or guarantee citizenship or a passing score. A practice score is not a USCIS score.

Officials, districts, procedures, deadlines, questions, and accepted answers can change. Users must confirm current information with the linked official sources. A location suggestion is an estimate for convenience; users must review it and confirm their congressional district with the official House finder.

License and restrictions

White Hat grants a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to use CivicFluent for lawful study. A user may not resell, scrape, interfere with, bypass security in, or use the app or its branding to impersonate a government agency. Rights granted by open-source licenses and nonwaivable law remain unaffected.

Optional speech, translation, location, text-to-speech, browser, and operating system features are supplied by the device or third parties and may be unavailable, inaccurate, or governed by separate terms. Denying an optional permission leaves manual study available. White Hat does not control a third party’s availability, content, or data practices.

The app is designed to work without an account. Local data may be permanently lost when the user clears app data, uninstalls the app, loses the device, or an operating-system change invalidates secure storage.

Advertising and in-app purchase

The free version may display a Google-served banner on navigation surfaces and one full-screen interstitial after a mock exam is completed, immediately before the score is shown. An ad is never placed between questions, while a question or explanation is active, or during a full-bank study exercise. If an ad is unavailable or fails, the score is shown without delay. Availability, suitability, and content of third-party ads are not controlled by White Hat. Users can report an inappropriate ad through Google’s ad controls and can use available privacy choices in Settings.

“Remove ads” is a non-consumable digital purchase processed by Google Play or the App Store under that store’s terms, price, taxes, refund rules, and family controls. The purchase removes Google-served ads from CivicFluent; it does not remove links to official or third-party services. Users must use “Restore purchases” with the same store account after reinstalling or changing devices. White Hat does not promise that a store or purchase service will always be available.

Intellectual property, updates, and termination

The CivicFluent name, original design, explanations, translations, illustrations, and software belong to White Hat or its licensors. Government questions and linked public materials remain subject to their own notices; their inclusion does not imply endorsement.

White Hat may correct, update, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain accuracy, safety, compliance, or compatibility. Material Terms changes require renewed in-app acceptance. White Hat may terminate the license for material misuse; provisions that by their nature should survive will survive.

Disclaimer and limitation

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AVAILABILITY, OR A PARTICULAR RESULT. This does not exclude warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WHITE HAT AND ITS MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, LOST DATA, LOST OPPORTUNITY, OR RELIANCE ON OUTDATED OR USER-ENTERED INFORMATION. TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE APP DURING THE PREVIOUS 12 MONTHS OR US$25. These limits do not apply where prohibited.

Law, disputes, and general provisions

New Jersey law and applicable United States federal law govern these Terms, without regard to conflict rules. Courts in Middlesex County, New Jersey have exclusive jurisdiction unless mandatory consumer law provides another forum. Before filing a claim, contact White Hat and allow 30 days for an informal resolution. Nothing waives nonwaivable consumer rights.

If a provision is unenforceable, it is limited to the minimum necessary and the remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and mandatory app-store terms form the agreement concerning the app.
